Paint and Play School, celebrating it's 40th school year, strives to provide eduational programs that meet the schedules of todays family.
Children who have had their 3rd birthday by July 1, 2011 are welcome to enroll in the MWF 1:00-3:00 class
Parents of children who have reached the minimum age of 4 by July 1, 2011 may select from two different classes. Four and five year old students may be enrolled in either MWF 8:30am - 12:30pm or T Th 9:30am - 2:30pm.
Any student enrolled in Paint and Play School is eligible to participate in either the before school program meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:00am-9:30 am or the after school program meeting Tuedays and Thursdays 2:30 pm - 4:00pm. This program is available for an additional monthly fee. As enrollment permits it may also be available on a day by day basis to assist parents who have appointments etc.
3-4 Year Old Pre-kindergarten Class
3 turning 4 Year Old Students Monday, Wednesday and Friday 1:00-3:00
This class is open to children who have reached the minimum age of 3 by July 1, 2011. It is a special program geared to meet the developmental needs of this age group. They will experience lots of fun and learning in smaller segments that are just right for their developing attention spans. Attending three afternoons each week allows the opportunity for students to familiarize themselves with the classroom routines, explore new concepts, and practice their social skills while developing new friendships.
Arrival
Please arrive no earlier than 12:55.
Assist your child to hang up his or her own jacket. At 1:00 the teachers will greet the class. The class will enter the classroom together with the teachers.
Circle Time
We will have activities that pertain to colors, shapes, holidays, health, safety, nutrition etc.
Literacy Activities
We may have stories, poetry, nursery rhymes, finger plays, and library time- time to share books with friends.
These activities will help to develop listening, vocabulary, comprehension, and self-expression skills.
Small Group Learning Centers
The teachers prepare and direct the learning in these small group centers.
The children will stay with their group and rotate to all of the prepared activities.
Snack
The M-W-F pm class will have snack on days that we celebrate a classmate’s birthday. We will wash our hands before eating our snack. The children will also have some food experience activities throughout the school year. On these days the students will help prepare a snack. We hope to broaden their palates throughout the school year.
Outdoor Play/ Physical Education
The children will experience activities to develop coordination and exercise their bodies through organized games, songs etc. Organized outdoor activities will take place at the discretion of the teachers.Please dress your child in play clothes and leave his or her jacket at school with your child.
Dismissal
We will review the day's activities and sing our Good Bye song.
The children wait in the classroom until their name is called.
4 and 5 Year Old Pre kindergarten Classes
Paint and Play School's 4 and 5 year old classes are open to children who have reached the minimum age of 4 by July 1st of the current school year. Two day a week or three day a week classes are available. Designed for the older child, this curriculum provides a bridge to the kindergarten experience.
Arrival
Please arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before the start of class. Your child will hang up his or her own jacket. The teachers will greet the class. The class will enter the classroom together with the teachers.
Opening
The children will share news and play name games to locate their name as we record attendance. We will discuss and graph the day’s weather conditions and practice counting with the abacus. The children will also honor our country with a song about the American Flag and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Small Group Learning
The teachers prepare and direct the learning in these small group centers. The children will stay with their group and rotate to all of the prepared activities.
Examples: Literacy Stories, poetry, nursery rhymes, finger plays, library time- time to share books with friends. These activities will help to develop listening, vocabulary, comprehension, and self-expression skills. Math Through hands on activities the children will explore counting, number sense, sorting, patterning, and seriation with manipulatives. Kid Writing As students develop the readiness skills required, they will draw a story and then tell the story to their peers in a small group. The teachers will guide students to make a physical representation of the sounds they hear in the words of the story they told.
Guided Discovery Learning Centers The teachers prepare a variety of learining activities. The students select the students they wish to work with and the order in which to participate in the activities.
Snack The children will have the opportunity to wash their hands before snack. Snack turn schedules are distributed in the monthly parent newsletters. Be sure and read your parent handbook for snack policies.
Calendar
The children will explore math concepts and language skills through the months, days of the week, etc.
